The other day I got Lydia up to feed her and she started to do the funniest thing. She took her hand and rested it on my chest and then stood her hand up on her thumb and then wiggled her thumb back and forth discovering that she had a joint in her thumb that was fun to play with. She must have played with her thumb for at least 10 minutes and she smiled up at me as if to say "Mom look what I can do!!!" Then on that very same day, I decided to wash her bedding as she is teething so she is drooling a lot. So I replaced her swaddle blanket and her blanket that I put over her. Well for that whole day she just didn't want to sleep and she would cry so her afternoon nap I put the blanket back on her bed that she had normally been using and discovered that she slept fine. So through some changing out her bedding I discovered that Lydia has developed a security blanket with this certain blanket. It was interesting to say the least. We have started her on baby foods now and so far she has done cereal, apple sauce, peas, prunes, and green beans. What a fun time in our lives. Last night someone in our small group mentioned that she was fearfully and wonderfully made. The more time I spend with Lydia the more I see that truth come alive in her, especially since she is developing her own little personality. SO we will see what today holds for her.

Another funny milestone in Lydia's life

Life
Well today starts with it just being Lydia, Joel and I again. My parents were here this past week and once again we had a great time with them. I think that it is neat to see how God can change a persons life or lives depending on the situation. My parents seem to be growing back toward each other as me and my siblings are all grown up now and moved out and either married or dating. I remember the time when it seemed as if there was no hope for them once we all left, but God is a big God and makes changes. My dad is in the process of quitting smoking so as tough of a challenge as it is he hopes to be finished in the near future. HE did real well while he was here, but hopefully will be able to accomplish his goal. I miss them already and that is something I haven't experienced in a long time.
So what is new you say? Well Lydia is starting to eat baby food. She started with cereal but isn't enjoying that much so this week we decided to try some peas. She is on day number 3 and loves them. So that has been fun to see. It does make me a little sad because I feel as if she is growing up so fast. But that is what they do they say. She makes pretty big steps as she is getting older. Soon I think her next big step will be rolling over, and or sitting up all on her own, but we will see. Till next time. Have a great day.
